Our mission to more sustainability

Hospitality and sustainability - for us, they go well together!
Our motive: Saving resources for the planet! We at BLOCK Hotel & Living still have many measures on our list, but we have already achieved a lot. Find out more about our strategy, goals and measures for more sustainability here. Our goal - We dream of a CO2-neutral catering offer that does without plastic waste and disposable items and with as little food waste as possible. However, as cleanliness and hygiene are points on which we cannot compromise, we have to scrutinise every detail of our daily activities and see what we can improve. The solutions are not always savings or cost-neutral.

Acting sustainably

Sometimes in our company you will realise ‘oh, something is being done differently here’! One example is our ‘green option’: since 2024, there has been NO AUTOMATIC cleaning of the rooms. If you still wish to have your room cleaned daily, this must be explicitly ordered at reception (a green sign on the room door is not sufficient). On arrival, you can tick this additional option on the registration form. Of course, this option is entirely up to you. We are also happy to do the room cleaning for you. However, there is no compensation from us for not cleaning your room.

You ask yourself: ‘Where is the deal for me?’

Quite simply ‘in US’ and in all our futures! Cleaning products don't have to be poured down the toilet every day when you stay in a room. A daily change of linen is not always necessary either. To be honest, you don't do this at home as well! We therefore take the approach that we can only solve it sustainably with sense & understanding and only together for our common future!

Sustainable business practices are a central aspect of our boutique hotel. For many years, we have tried to orientate our actions in such a way that

• current economic, ecological and social needs are met and
• future generations are not worse off as a result of these actions.

We still have a long way to go, but we are convinced that it is worth it! We would therefore like to thank our guests for their understanding and willingness to work with us towards a future worth living.

Social sustainability

The BLOCK Hotel & Living sees itself as part of society. We want to do our part for the good of all. We regularly support organisations and projects in the Ingolstadt area with donations. Our owner Carolin Block is also involved in various honorary positions, for example in the Ingolstadt Lions Club ‘Auf der Schanz’ or in the IHK Regional Committee for Munich-Upper Bavaria and in the Family Businesses for Ingolstadt.

The future needs skilled labour! That's why we at BLOCK Hotel & Living take the issue of training seriously. In addition, Carolin Block has been a volunteer IHK examiner for the final exams for more than 25 years. She is also committed to the interests of the IHK regional committee.
